Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday lower than the previous day. BRVM 10 index decreased from 299.13 to 298.70 points, a drop of 0.14 percent. BRVM Composite index lost 0.15 percent at 304.29 points against 304.75 points previously.
The equity market capitalization dropped XOF 11 billion (about US$18 million) to close at XOF 7,509 billion relative to the previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,520 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 139,386 traded stocks relative to 134,120 recorded at the previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 4,005.324 million (against XOF 3,475.870 million recorded at the previous trading session) exchanged in 29 traded securities via 242 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 43,260 traded securities (accounted for about 31 percent of the total volume). Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 1,148.393 million contributing nearly 28.7 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 15.96 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.73.
From the market price movers’ perspectives, out of the 29 traded securities today, 9 stocks experienced price gains, 9 witnessed price drops and 11 stocks price remained unchanged relative to the previous closing price. On the price gainers, MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price gainers after adding 7.50 percent to close at XOF 5,160. SGB COTE D’IVOIRE soared by 5.18 percent to trade at XOF 132,000 and FILTSAC COTE D’IVOIRE ended at XOF 30,000 by adding 1.69 percent. UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE share price gained 1.37 percent to trade at XOF 28,895 and SITAB COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 157,000 after gaining 1.29 percent.
In the zone region, SAPH COTE D’IVOIRE slid by 7.50 percent to close at XOF 10,360 as the biggest price losers and BANK OF AFRICA SENEGA slumped by 3.23 percent to close at XOF 75,000. VIVO ENERGY COTE D’IVOIRE skid by 3.09 percent to close at XOF 75,010. UNILEVER COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 2.08 percent to end at XOF 23,500 and Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO shed off 1.92 percent to settle at XOF 51.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index gained 0.50 percent at 169.31 points and public utilities sector index sagged by 0.24 percent to end at 830.23 points. Financial services sector index surged by 0.05 percent to end at 107.90 points, but distribution sector index declined by 0.48 percent to end at 589.57 points. The agriculture sector index dropped 2.21 percent to close at 179.73 points. The transportation sector index rose by 0.22 percent to settle at 1,249.43 points and miscellaneous sector index remained unchanged to close at 650.31 points.
